Taxonomic Etymology:
Named in honor of an Oregon biologist.
Plethodon — From Greek plethos (πλῆθος), meaning “multitude” or “fullness,” and odōn (ὀδών), meaning “tooth”—“many-toothed,” referring to the numerous vomerine teeth characteristic of the genus.
stormi — A patronym honoring Robert M. Storm (1918-2017), a zoologist and herpetologist at Oregon State University who contributed extensively to studies of northwestern amphibians.
